Tamaris Unveils New "Made with Mushrooms" Shoes Featuring HyphaLite™ Material

ISA Next-Gen Materials (“ISA"), the leading manufacturer of sustainable leather and additional materials, is delighted to announce the continued collaboration between Tamaris, the renowned European footwear brand for women, and ISA’s 100% biobased HyphaLite™ material. Tamaris has once again incorporated HyphaLite™ into their "Made with Mushrooms" pilot project to create three new stylish ankle boots as part of the GreenStep collection.

In 2020, Tamaris introduced the GreenStep collection with a focus on offering timeless shoe designs that incorporate organic-based materials and innovative sustainability features. As part of this collection, Tamaris launched the pilot project "Made with Mushrooms" in 2022, which resulted in the release of a sandal utilizing the innovative HyphaLite™ material. This project garnered Tamaris the "German Award for Sustainability Projects 2022". Building on the success of the previous year, Tamaris has now turned its attention to ankle boots, further showcasing the sustainability benefits offered by HyphaLite™ for a new season.

Uwe Hutzler, CEO of ISA, states: "It has been an incredible journey for both Tamaris and us as we explore the path towards sustainability. We are proud to see HyphaLite™, our 100% biobased and plastic-free material, being embraced by brands like Tamaris and incorporated into various styles. This ongoing partnership proves that HyphaLite™ not only offers sustainable design features but also meets the essential KPIs necessary for the production of shoes and accessories. A win-win for both parties."

HyphaLite™ material, developed by ISA's COSM™ business unit, is a flagship product known for its 100% biobased composition. Made from certified natural latex, FSC-certified regenerated cellulose fibers, and incorporating mushrooms, this innovative material showcases exceptional sustainability features while ensuring tested manufacturability. Notably, international brands such as Tamaris, Puma, Saucony, and Camper have embraced the use of HyphaLite™ in their product lines, highlighting its versatility and eco-friendly qualities.
